ReelUrbanNews.com remembers the life and contribution of West Coast veteran rapper, Kevin “Flipside” White. According to eyewitnesses, “Flip” was murdered while standing in a yard adjacent to his on the evening of Monday, September 23. 2013 in the South Central neighborhood of Watts, an historic community in Los Angeles, California. “Flip” gained national prominence as a founding member of the Hip Hop and Gangsta Rap group, Operation From The Bottom. In 1992 OFTB released “Straight Up Watts” the first CD from the rap trio. In that same year, OFTB was signed to the controversial music label, Death Row Records, where they appeared on compilations and soundtracks, Murder Was The Case, Above The Rim and Gridlock’d. In 2011, WideAwake, the new owners of the Death Row Records catalog released OFTB’s un-released CD, Damn Near Dead. Durning his 20 plus year rap and entertainment career, “Flip” worked with Hip Hop and Gangsta Rap royalty, TupacShakur, Dr. Dre, Kurupt and Snoop Dogg. In 1998 OFTB formed Flatbroke Entertainment and released the musical compilation, “The Return Of The West.” In recent years “Flip” a long with his OFTB group member, Ronald “Low M.B. Watkins, founded and served as Co-Chairmen of Tha Payroll Entertainment. In August 2013, “Flip” and “Low M.B.” released the much anticipated CD, Hostile Environment. ReelUrbanNews.com has learned the Los Angeles Police Department have in custody the alleged assailant suspected of murdering the beloved rapper, “Flipside.” A candle light vigil was held in “Flip’s” honor on the evening of Tuesday.
