Motown The Musical opening night Red Carpet was jammed packed with real R&B and Pop music royalty. ReelUrbanNews.com spoke with several talented cast members, A-List Hollywood celebrities, Mr. Berry Gordy, Founder of Motown and his best friend and label mate, Mr. Smokey Robinson. Robinson, speaking with our Michael Reel provided his personal perspective on the global influence of Motown and the continued relevance of the MOTOWN Sound today. “With the time allotted Motown the Musical gives people a chance to see the true story of Berry Gordy’s life. There have been so many fictional stories and made up stories about what went on with Berry and Motown. I feel very blessed that our music is still relevant. On the very first day of Motown there were five people there including Berry, who said “I’m going to start my own record company. I don’t like the way people are producing my songs. I don’t like the way they’re paying me. We are going to make quality music. We are not going to just make black music, we’re going to make music for everybody.” Mr. Smokey Robinson, Motown Legend
