Funk music pioneer, hip hop icon and pop culture hero, George Clinton discusses his new memoir, “Brothas Be, Yo Like George Ain’t That Funkin’ Kinda Hard On You?” during the West Coast swing of his sizzling national book tour.
Clinton revealed to our Michael Reel that when he started in the music business he wasn’t focused on being relevant; he wanted to make a powerful contribution. “I had dreams of being anything this could offer. And when Motown came along with Smokey and the Temptations – Oh yes I’m going to be a part of that. They were already ruling the world. Yes I thought I was going to be a part of that and more. Once we had our first hit record, ‘Testify,’ and I saw the English groups start coming over here, The Beatles, that gave me another incentive.”
