Nicki Minaj abruptly ended an interview with a journalist who asked her about the feud between rapper Drake and her boyfriend Meek Mill, and whether she “thrived off drama.”
”That’s disrespectful,” Minaj fired back at New York Times Magazine writer Vanessa Grigoriadis. ”Why would a grown-ass woman thrive off drama?”
Grigoriadis openly admits her choice of words was, in fact, “offensive,” and tried to apologize, but “only made matters worse.”
”What do the four men you just named have to do with me thriving off drama?” she asked after the reporter mentioned Lil Wayne and Bryan Williams, as well. ”Why would you even say that? That’s so peculiar. Four grown-ass men are having issues between themselves, and you’re asking me do I thrive off drama?”
But Minaj didn’t stop there, and accused the female interviewing her of trying to put her down.
”That’s the typical thing that women do,” she said. “What did you putting me down right there do for you? Women blame women for things that have nothing to do with them. I really want to know why — as a matter of fact, I don’t. Can we move on, do you have anything else to ask?’ To put down a woman for something that men do, as if they’re children and I’m responsible, has nothing to do with you asking stupid questions, because you know that’s not just a stupid question. That’s a premeditated thing you just did.”
Meek Mill and Drake were in the news recently when the former accused Drake of using a ghostwriter to write his songs. Drake responded with various diss tracks, including the statement, ”Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour?” Yet, Minaj stayed out of the drama between her boyfriend and friend, and even prompted her boyfriend to publicly apologize for the feud during a show in July.
The reporter had also asked about the ongoing war between Lil Wayne and Bryan Williams. Minaj signed with Wayne‘s label, Young Money, a part of Cash Money co-founded by Williams, in 2009. Wayne and Williams have since split up following a Twitter tantrum in which Wayne slammed the label and his co-founder.
Minaj continued to call the reporter “rude” and “a troublemaker” while telling her”not to speak to me like I’m stupid or beneath you in any way.”
At last, Minaj ended the interview with, ”I don’t care to speak to you anymore.”
