Sports and entertainment broadcast legend, Pat O’Brien recently spoke with ReelUrbanNews.com about his new book, ‘I’ll Be Back Right After This.’ In a wide ranging interview, O’Brien discussed his struggles with drinking, his relationship with his son and being redeemed.

“It was a nightmare – It took four years to write the book because I’ve changed so much in the four years. It was tuff to write some of that stuff, especially about the downfall and the alcoholism. The book is about redemption. If you’re going to read it for scandal you’re not going to get much. It’s about redemption and second chances. I use to hate when players said ‘I thank God for my life.’ But now I know what it’s like and I do thank God for my life. I’m not sure I’m totally redeemed but I feel like I’ve made a difference. I feel like I’ve helped get a lot of people sober.”

In the closing moments of our interview, O’Brien spoke about his affection and love of his son, Sean.

“I’m a good dad and we are very close, my son and I. I put him through a little more than he needed to be put through. But he stuck with me. The book is dedicated to him. He knows who I am and what I’m about and that’s between him and me. It’s unconditional love. He never stopped loving me and I’ll never stop loving him.

Maybe that’s the title of my next book “I’ve Been Redeemed” …..LOL. I’ve been blessed.”
