Reel Urban Politics:

In the “Political Series: We’re Going to Take Our Country Back!”, Cynthia Shaffer, Political Editor for Reel Urban News, asked several self-identified Republicans: What do Republicans mean when they say, “We’re going to take our country back.” Erieka Paige-Dangeau led off with her perspective on what “taking our country back” means to her (https://www.reelurbannews.com/erieka-paige-dangeau-taking-our-country-back/). While she focused on the economics, the next Republican, Terry Schroeder, focuses on the role of government.

Second Response:

“In my opinion, when I think we need to take our country back, I think of a place where the government works for us, the way it was designed to. To me, taking our country back means that the government is not our master. And that each citizen is accountable for his or her own success or failure, and that it is not the responsibility of the rest of America to have your assets taken from you under the color of law, and given to others with neither your counsel, or consent.  I could go on for days, but that’s the gist of my feeling.”

Shaffer asked Schroeder, “What do you mean by, “…the color of law”?

Schroeder provided this link to help explain the terminology, “the color of the law”: https://www.justice.gov/crt/deprivation-rights-under-color-law
