Something For Sunday
On the evening of November 7, the Hilton at Los Angeles International Airport, played host to the Celebration Banquet of Rev. Dr. Aidsand F. Wright-Riggins III, Executive Director, National Ministries, American Baptist Home Mission Societies. After twenty four years of committed and remarkable service, Dr. Wright-Riggins will retire.

The excerpts below were taken from our forthcoming exclusive on camera interview with Dr. Wright-Riggins.

“Space For Grace is an incredible opportunity for us to figure out how we began to draw circles and include people in as to oppose to circles that exclude folks. We are very excited about opportunities to train people and encourage people regardless of race, gender and sexuality. We’re really excited.”

“I thank God for fifty-five years of ministry and twenty four years with the American Baptist Home Mission Society and being able to serve as Executive Director in that way.”

“When I talk about being American Baptist, we’re talking about being a progressive kind of Baptist. A Baptist that is committed to diversity and inclusion. It becomes a denomination that is really known for including in its leadership, women, people of color, engaged in justice ministry in addition to developing community and developing people as disciples of Jesus Christ.”

“I think one of the biggest legacies that I might leave is a real commitment to developing emerging leaders, bring along those on the margins to be included at the table of leadership and influence in our denomination.”
