Zelda Hutcherson, Senior Assembly Member California Senior Legislature spoke exclusively with ReelUrbanNews.com about issues that matter most to seniors in California and throughout the nation.

“The three major concerns for seniors are housing, transportation and of course health care. Health care is a critical issue because of the cost and from our perspective, everyone is trying to balance the budget on the backs of seniors.”  Zelda Hutcherson, Senior Assembly Member California Senior Legislature

According to Hutcherson, the California Senior Legislature was instrumental in convincing local and national hotel chains to improve room safety for seniors. “One of the major issues that we’ve worked on for the past several years has been the placement of grab-bars in hotels and motels.  To prevent people from falling in the bathroom we felt it was important that hotel owners install grab-bars.”  Zelda Hutcherson, Senior Assembly Members California Senior Legislature

  1. Grab bars are a must, as are non-skid bath mats and good lighting. A senior concierge specializing in activities and excursions tailored to the 55+ set keeps senior travellers safe, entertained and connected. As vision and physicality change, confidence wanes but it doesn’t mean a senior isn’t able, they just need a better choice, a minute longer to decide and a hand getting there. What’s so brain-wrenching about that? Let’s all lend a hand.
