The former home address to two remarkable families is 3901 Hepburn Avenue in Los Angeles, California. The Goldman and Farmer families both occupied the storied address, raising children, celebrating holidays and nurturing friendships and community ties that have lasted a life time. Sheila Goldman whose parents built the home and Shari Farmer whose parents purchased the home, from the Goldmans spoke exclusively with ReelUrbanNews.com about their families and their individual childhood at 3901 Hepburn Avenue.

“Before moving here we lived on 80th and Central Avenue, my dad’s doctor’s office was next door. It was a fourplex and we lived upstairs. This was one of the last lots (3901 Hepburn Avenue) in the neighborhood and my parents purposely chose this neighborhood for its convenience, its location, the community, the neighborhood, the shopping and the neighbors. It was like I said before; I think it was the best time of my life. I think living here and growing up in the neighborhood, which was well integrated at the time. I’m blessed for being here because I grew up being able to get along with everybody and see the world the way it is, not one way or the other. It was a very unusual neighborhood.” Sheila Goldman

“To have both of us back in the home (3901 Hepburn Avenue) is special. Sheila was three when she moved in, I was three when we moved in and just the similarities are amazing. My mom is my hero. My parents bought the house in early 1969 and my dad died December ‘69. He was not in this house with us for a long period of time at all. And for my mom to be on a teacher’s salary and be able to maintain the home with five kids is just amazing. And that’s why family is so important.” Shari Farmer

“When people buy a house you will hear them say, ‘I walked in the house and it felt like my house.’ That feeling and the energy of a house really exist. When you have the benefit of having the family that lived there and left the energy in the house and they return, it infuses the environment. I don’t know if my buyer walked in, but if they did, they felt good and the vibe was great.” Teresa Mack, Broker, Keller Williams Pacific Playa
