In the vernacular of the streets, I am just wore (worn) out. Wore out! I am almost at a lost for words over this latest demonstration in McKinney, Texas of the systemic racism that undergirds our American way of life. The behavior of another hired to protect and serve who lost his mind in the face of a situation where children of color were made to feel less than human is tiring. It is tiring because it is symptomatic of a problem that no one seems to want to address and that is not going away. That problem is systemic racism.

In an online article Systemic Racism is defined as what occurs when the way a society is structured systematically ends up giving advantages to some and disadvantages to others. McKinney is one of the towns listed as a best community in which to live in America. Yet, a member of its police force attacks teenagers at a pool party because some of it residents were upset because of the color of the party. He lost it and the person who represents the community stands by watches and seemingly does nothing to stop the atrocity. Look at the scene against the definition.

As long as we continue to treat symptoms and not the problem, we will continue to have the symptoms that are popping up with increasing frequency in differing parts of our country. Come on people, systemic racism is “terribly costly to many and dehumanizing to all.”

The Lord says; If my people will humble themselves, pray, seek and turn, the will I heal.
