Series No. 4 ‘Chicago Justice’ gets a promising start at the end of the network’s three-hour Dick Wolf crossover.
NBC scored a rare Wednesday win last night, thanks to three full hours of Dick Wolf’s Chicago-set dramas.
The crossover, which brought a demo and total viewers win for the network, concluded in the 10 p.m. hour with the strong launch for the latest spinoff, Chicago Justice. The series averaged a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49 and 8.7 million viewers, easily topping the hour.
Prior to the launch of Justice, parent series Chicago Fire and original spinoff Chicago PD aired special Wednesday outings, featuring appearances from Chicago Med characters as well. Chicago Fire kicked off the night with a 1.7 rating in the key demo, while Chicago PD marked the peak of the block with a 1.9 rating. With the exception of ABC’s Modern Family, Chicago Fire marked the highest-rated showing from the Big Four for the night.
CBS and ABC tied for No. 2 status for the night, though ABC was greatly diminished from its typical Wednesday showing on account of the continued middling performance from miniseries When We Rise. After an even Goldbergs (1.7 adults) and shifted Modern Family (2.0 adults), When We Rise logged a 0.7 rating in the key demo — before falling to a 0.5 rating. As for CBS, Hunted continued its steady freshman season with a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49, a score shared by lead-out Criminal Minds.
Fox’s lone original for the night was a new episode of Star (1.1 adults). And, on the CW, Arrow earned a 0.6 rating before a The 100 pulled a 0.4 rating in the demo. Each was slightly lifted from the previous week.
