Reel Urban News Exclusive:

The Los Angeles Times in-house studio provided the perfect backdrop for a conversation with Times reporter and self described cultural curator, Tre’vell Anderson.

In recent days, Anderson has been writing around the clock about the Oscars and the lack of diversity associated with this seasons nominations. “It’s the second year that the top five categories of acting nominees are all white. People are not happy about it. People were not happy about it last year. This year we’re seeing more people, particularly the celebrity side of things vocalizing their opinion.”

Anderson, a native of Charleston, South Carolina and raised by a single parent attributes his success to the education he received at both Morehouse College and Stanford University. “I did a one year journalism program at Stanford, where there were only 13 of us in a very intensive writing program. By being at Stanford I learned about the Fellowship at the Los Angeles Times.”

Tre’vell Anderson is wrapped in talent, humility and self confidence. “I’m a firm believer, if you’re going to do you, let it really be you. That’s something that Morehouse thought me. Morehouse made me who I am. Being secure in my sexuality, in my blackness and in everything that comes with that.”

Our HD video interview and profile with Anderson will post to ReelUrbanNews.com in February, 2016.
