Just days prior to the nation’s youth heading back to school, Beth Glenn, National Educational Director for the NAACP spoke exclusively with ReelUrbanNews.com about the organizations educational mandate.“Education works with all of the other programmatic areas to try to strengthen our communities in the various disciplines. However education is largely focused on improving k-12 schools for students of color, the disadvantage student and with students in communities with struggling schools.”  Beth Glenn, National Educational Director, NAACP

As ethnic demographics in urban centers throughout the nation continue to change, Glenn admits the NAACP realizes the importance of partnering with other minority organizations to improve public education. “The future is going to be one of cooperation between the Hispanic and African American community. That’s the way the demographic trends are going. We have been forging links between Latino organizations and we are forming coalitions at the local level.”  Beth Glenn, National Educational Director, NAACP
