Something For Sunday
The gospel music community of Memphis, Tennessee recently joined with the family and friends of native son, James O. Pope, Jr. to celebrate his four plus decades of distinguished musicianship and community leadership. “Pope,” which he is affectionately called remains a sought after church organist and gospel choir director in the city that is home to Beale Street and through out the Southern region of the country.
In addition to choir members, musicians, family and friends paying tribute to “Pope,” several Memphis area pastors expressed their heartfelt gratitude to this exceptional church musician, not only for wonderful talent but for his remarkable spirit and humanity.
Raised in the loving home of the late Rev. James O. Pope, Sr. and Joyce Fields Pope, James and his siblings were taught Christian values and the gift of giving. The Pope home was steeped in gospel music.
The celebration was lifted and anointed. Attendees enjoyed great gospel music while the love of Christ filled the air.
Special appreciation to host pastor, Rev. Nathaniel Craft, Jr. and the Center Chapel Baptist Church family of Memphis, Tenn. To all program participants, guest, family and friends the Pope family remains forever grateful for your love, support and faithfulness.
