Sitting here contemplating the New Year and all its uncertainties, I have pondered the thought of the many who have made resolutions that will never be met and those who were just thankful to see 2022.  Personally, I have never been one to make an annual resolution, but this year specifically, I decided to make a promise that I will make 365 days of better choices.  What most individuals fail at in life is not deciphering the choices that they make. A familiar quote states, “Life is all about making choices.  Always do your best to make the right ones, and always do your best to learn from the wrong ones.”

Twenty-twenty-two will be my year to extend my thought process and discover what is best for me now.  As I approach 50 years of age this year, the choices that I make can produce life altering changes for my family and me.  These choices include career moves, financial investments, health, and quality time given were its most valued.  There is no time to waste, so these choices must be wise ones and choices that will make a difference for the better and not for the worse.

There are days when I wish I could turn back the hands of time and change some of the choices that I made.  But since that’s impossible for me to do, the quote gives me the opportunity to learn from all of the bad choices that I have made.  No, a resolution is not the answer for me, but making sure that I make the right choice each day will make me a better person, a better wife, a better mother, a better colleague, a better daughter, a better friend, and a better sister. That is what this 2022 New Year means to me.  Perfection, I will never be, but seeing myself clearly through the eyes of Jesus will channel my choices in the right direction.  Having this clarity will allow me to overcome challenges that stood in my way and questioned my intellect in the past.

Daily, I challenge you to make fearless choices.  Choose to Live and not Die.  Choose to Win and not Loose.  Choose to Smile and not be Angry.  Choose to be Optimistic and not Pessimistic. Choose to Love and not Hate. Choose to see God’s whole picture and allow His Purpose to Prevail.  This year, I challenge you to not make a New Year’s resolution, but instead make a choice for 365 days to do better and to be better.  I am my brother and sister’s keeper and together…WE CAN CHOOSE!!!
