On Tuesday, January 15, Areva Martin, was a guest on David Webb’s radio show on SiriusXM Patriot 125. I’m only able to listen during the time between dropping my son off at school and returning home. Probably 15 minutes. I must say, on this day, however, I stayed in my car, parked in my garage, to finish listening to the exchange between Martin & Webb. You  see, Ms. Martin invoked “white privilege” to explain Mr. Webb’s successful career in media. Webb concentrated on qualifications. Martin hammered “diversity” and “color representation.”

Radio exchange between Webb & Martin:

Imagine her utter embarrassment when Mr. Webb informed her that he is not…white. In fact, he’s black. To Ms. Martin’s credit, she immediately apologized when she realized her race mistake, but she did not voice any concern how she had just blown her whole “white privilege” narrative to smithereens in that split second moment of truth.

Areva Martin, a CCN Legal Commentator accused David Webb of White Privilege

Mr. Webb challenged her by stating (paraphrase) she should have been better prepped. In a cheap-shot move, Ms. Martin, in turn, explained her people did not give her correct information. Here I am, sitting in my car, thinking, “Really? She didn’t even bother to do a simple Google/social media check on Mr. Webb?” I’m thinking her people did not give her the correct information in absentia.

I later learned Ms. Martin is a CNN Legal Analyst. Considering the topic being discussed (lack of black journalists in the CBS digital journalists selection to cover the 2020 presidential campaign) all the more her lack of due diligence to even “identify” the interviewer correctly was astounding. It seemed she had no sense of urgency or integrity to see Mr. Webb as an individual worthy of consideration based on merit and experience. In her eyes, Mr. Webb was white, and she treated him thusly. Isn’t that the very definition of “racism” in Ms. Martin’s world? To boot, as of today, there is no news coverage of Ms. Martin’s magnificent red-faced accusation by the likes of The New York Times, The Root, and CNN, of course.

The next day, Mr. Webb explained to his radio audience, an invitation was extended for Ms. Martin to come back on the show anytime. They were looking at Friday, January 18.

On January 17, Ms. Martin tagged Mr. Webb in a tweet about her “erroneous statement”, but he doesn’t see it as an apology.

Martin’s ”apology” tweet:

Friday’s show came and went without Ms. Martin. Why did she chose to retreat instead of rise to the occasion?
