At this time, we put all political opinions aside and pray for Waukesha County and all of those who have been impacted by this tragic incident.

Sunday, a red SUV plowed through the crowd at the Waukesha Christmas Parade. I then saw the red truck hit a little girl. When the truck hit her, she immediately fell and laid there on the asphalt. I ran from across the street to help her; while praying that she would be ok. Thankfully, through the grace of God, she was alive. I called 911 as several other concerned citizens and first responders also came to help.  Also, more uplift and spiritual support was given as a small group came, knelt and prayed for the little girl. Although we all were concerned while providing assistance, we drew strength from this little girl as she stayed strong and fought through the elements until the ambulance arrived.

During this incident, the little girl’s mother was also injured. At this moment, it was heart wrenching, yet emotionally inspiring to witness the essence of a mother’s love manifest itself in such a powerful way. Despite this mother’s own injuries, she was never concerned about herself. She was laser focused on ensuring that her little girl was alright.

After a brief time, the ambulance came and took the little girl to the hospital. Afterwards, the little girl’s relatives were very appreciative for everyone’s help. Suddenly, one of the first responders tapped me on the shoulder and said, “Thank you for your help as well.” After talking with two of the first responders, ironically, I learned they were Soldiers as well. One  first responder was a 10 year Army Veteran and the other, an Emergency Medical Technician, had served in the Navy. In the spirit of respect and appreciation, we thanked each other for our service to this nation, but more so for helping that little girl. I pray that God puts his healing hands upon this little girl, her mother and their family.
